Rape Crisis Scotland National Helpline

EDM number 395 in 2017-19, proposed by Alison Thewliss on 12/10/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Sexual offences, Telecommunications and Voluntary organisations.

That this House congratulates Rape Crisis Scotland, whose National Helpline has been in operation for 10 years; notes that the Helpline began taking calls on 11 October 2007; considers that over the last decade the helpline has responded to over 41,000 contacts; welcomes that accessibility has improved over this time, with support also available by email, SMS text and deaf access with British Sign Language; and while it is hoped that a time will come when there is no need for such a service, greatly appreciates the efforts of the staff and volunteers of Rape Crisis Scotland.
