Closure Of Tesco Engagement Centre In Cardiff

EDM number 40 in 2017-19, proposed by Anna McMorrin on 21/06/2017.
Categorised under the topics of Companies, Employment and Service industries.

That this House notes the devastating impact of today's shock announcement by Tesco to close its Customer Engagement Centre in Maes-Y-Coed Road, Cardiff with upto 1100 job loses; recognises that the centre has been part of the local economy for many years and has a highly skilled, highly motivated workforce; further recognises the significant and overwhelming effect this decision will have on the local economy, workers and their families of Cardiff North as well as the wider economy of South Wales; and urges the Government to seek ways to intervene to help prevent such a decision and support the local economy and local community at this time.
