Attempted Takeover Of Bristol Evening Post Plc
Jonathan Sayeed
1990-03-20
That this House expresses its deep concern that Mr David Sullivan, a newspaper publisher who has served a prison sentence on charges relating to prostitution and who has been convicted for sending obscene material through the post, should be seeking to take a controlling interest in the Bristol Evening Post plc; and urges the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to take into account the importance of a locally based newspaper group maintaining its independence from such an unsavoury influence and to recommend rejection of his proposals.
