Company Receiverships And Government
Jimmy Wray
1991-07-09
That this House is convinced by recent figures showing company receiverships up 117 per cent. in London and 93 per cent. in Scotland during the first half of this year, as compared with the same period last year, that Government predictions of early signs of economic recovery are not only sheer nonsense but utter irresponsibility; demands that instead of trying to mislead and distract the public with political manoeuverings the Government make a radical change of their policies which, in the first place, already caused two recessions during the last 12 years and destroyed half of the British industrial base; also demands a public apology from Her Majesty's Government to the people involved in small and medium business who are bearing the full impact of the Government-made recession; and expresses its solidarity with the managers, workers and the unemployed who, through no fault of their own, find themselves and their families victims of an uncaring, incompetent and dogmatic Government.
