Taro Naw And Mr Brian Walker
Paul Flynn
1992-01-29
That this House congratulates the S4C Welsh language programme Taro Naw for revealing that Newport businessman Brian Walker harrassed and bullied his tenants, a frail elderly couple, by ripping out their heating system and rendering the flat they have occupied for 22 years uninhabitable, failing to honour a promise of ú6,000 he made to them as an inducement to leave their home, and that Mr Walker has repeatedly failed to pay his debts, including ú40,000 to electrical engineers, Mr Jeremy Griffin, and ú18,000 to a sign making firm Centre Group; and notes that his most recent company, Beacon Properties, has gone into receivership, although Mr Walker and his associate, Mr Lloyd Hester, continue to attempt to open a children's play centre in Newport employing the same business ethics that Mr Walker has used in his other ventures.
