<title>UN COMMISSION ON HUMAN RIGHTS' REPORT ON BURMA</title>
<proposer id="18110">Jim Lester</proposer>
<date>1992-03-05</date>
<text>That this House welcomes the United Nations Commission on Human Rights' decision to nominate a special rapporteur to report on the serious human rights situation in Burma to the 47th session of the United Nations General Assembly; remains concerned at the current security situation on both the borders with Bangladesh and Thailand destabilising the area; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to press the Security Council to introduce a mandatory arms embargo to prevent further escalation of either internal or external repression and for the earliest end to the catalogue of abuses reaffirmed in the United Nations report.</text>
