Emergency Life Support Equipment

EDM number 1343 in 1993-94, proposed by Liz Lynne on 16/06/1994.

That this House believes that charging VAT on life support equipment is unacceptable; regrets that VAT at 17.5 per cent. is making such equipment as oxygen administration units, which are used only for life saving activities and not for aqualung cylinders, unavailable to clubs and societies, which endangers life; and believes that specialist training such as Sub Aqua Association, British Sub Aqua Club and Divers Alert Network Oxygen administration courses should be accepted as qualifications for purchasing and re-filling emergency equipment.
