High Standards Of Radio Three

That this House deeply regrets the changes introduced to Radio Three, a national institution at the heart of Britain's musical life; believes that through its efforts in broadcasting 2,500 hours of live music each year, in addition to organising the Promenade concerts and encouraging new composers, Radio Three provides an incomparable broadcasting service, unique throughout the world; believes that any attempts to cheapen or trivialise its presentations can only be at the expense of Radio Three's remarkable quality; further calls upon the BBC to abandon its present policies and return to its previous high standards, in the certain knowledge that quality always shows and will attract many more listeners than lowering standards.
