That this House congratulates Ken Saro Wiwa on winning the prestigious British Environment and Media Awards, Special Awareness Award for his courageous, non-violent, environmental campaigns as founder of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People; notes his continuing illegal detention; recalls his categorisation as a prisoner of conscience by Amnesty International; and calls upon the Nigerian High Commissioner to make clear to his government the strength of feeling of honourable Members of all sides of this House concerning Mr Saro Wiwa's case.
