10971 1994-95 859 David Clelland 1995-03-21 That this House expresses its concern about the very grave shortcomings of the Special Contracts Arrangements (SCA) which replaced the Priority Suppliers Scheme as a means by which sheltered employment workshops were able to bid for contracts; notes that last year, under the Priority Suppliers Scheme, REMPLOY received orders for around ú17.5 million of contracts from the Ministry of Defence but that this year, under SCA, REMPLOY has received contracts for only a fraction of the work it tendered for; commends the REMPLOY workshops for the selfless way in which workers put in long hours in the Falklands crisis to ensure that British forces were well equipped with protective clothing; and believes that the Special Contracts Arrangements should be reviewed as a matter of urgency to ensure benefit to the disabled.
