<title>RIGHT HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR DUMFERMLINE EAST AND LABOUR'S PUBLIC SPENDING PLAN</title>
<proposer id="10525">Alex Salmond</proposer>
<date>1997-01-20</date>
<text>That this House notes the comments of the Shadow Chancellor on Labour's plans for public spending; recognises that any Labour government will mean no new money for vital public services in Scotland in the first two years of any Labour government; condemns the Labour Party for caving in to the Conservative agenda on public spending, and for sabotaging the campaign against spending cuts in local government by accepting the Tory figures; notes that New Labour offers no future for Scotland's most vulnerable and no hope of reprieve for services already creaking under the weight of Tory cuts; and condemns the Labour Party for effectively merging their economic tax policies with those of the Conservative Party.</text>
