VISUALLY IMPAIRED CRICKET FESTIVAL '98

EDM number 1453 in 1997-98, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 22/06/1998.

That this House congratulates all the teams which took part in the first ever two-day national Festival of Blind Cricket at Euxton Cricket Club in the constituency of Chorley on 20th-21st June; congratulates Gary O'Neill, the organiser, for bringing teams together from all over the country to participate in this highly competitive tournament for blind and visually-impaired cricket teams along with umpires, scorers and ground staff; notes that this was made possible by the committed volunteers and sponsorship from companies including British Aerospace, Cheshire Building Society, Multipart, Matthew Brown, Airtours, Chorley Borough Council, Euxton Parish Council, J. F. O'Neil Limited, Norweb, Chorley District Building Society, Computer Science Corporation, Royal Ordnance, Albion Automotives, Hindley Inner Wheel Society, the National Disabled Cricket Association and many more; and looks forward to next year's tournament and further development of the sport.
