14944 1997-98 1376 Tess Kingham 1998-06-02 That this House welcomes President Abdelaziz, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, on the occasion of his visit to the United Kingdom in June; trusts that Ministers of Her Majesty's Government will take the opportunity of this visit to reassure the President of their wholehearted support for the United Nations Peace Plan in Western Sahara; notes that the Moroccan government and the Polisario Front, the two parties in the conflict over Western Sahara, have agreed to co-operate fully with the UN plan to hold a free and fair referendum of self-determination of the Saharawi people; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to do everything in its power at the UN Security Council and within the EU to ensure that both parties adhere to this agreement as the only viable way to resolve a conflict that has lasted over 20 years.
