14571 1997-98 1554 Paul Burstow 1998-07-14 That this House welcomes Her Majesty's Government's plans to review the provision of continence services as announced on 7th May; welcomes the NHS Executive's meeting to review continence services on 12th June; expresses concern that the NHS Executive has made no visible progress in issuing national or draft guidance; notes that unless guidance is issued to local health authorities before the annual autumn purchasing round for 1999-2000 cuts will continue and will not be reversed before late 2000; further notes that this situation will force the development of a retail market in continence products and will remove essential NHS care for 3.5 million people; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to issue clear guidance to local health authorities on continence services before the purchasing round commences.
