Pay In The Higher Education Sector
Roger Berry
2001-01-24
That this House welcomes the comments of the Secretary of State for Education and Employment in December 2000 calling upon employers in the higher education sector to recommence negotiations with staff on the implementation of the Bett Report on pay in the higher education sector; notes with concern the proposals contained in the Higher Education Funding Council for England's consultative document to distribute the additional funding allocated by the Government for university staff pay by using performance appraisal; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Education and Employment to ensure that the increased funding for pay is distributed evenly and priority is given to raising general pay levels as recommended by the Bett Committee.
