Water Charging

EDM number 285 in 2000-01, proposed by Jane Griffiths on 01/02/2001.

That this House notes that current arrangements for water metering provide no short or medium term arrangements to ensure fair water charging and that arrangements for metering significantly disadvantages poorer households; recommends that the Government puts in place fair and progressive machinery for charging for water, including measures that allow water companies to link tariffs for water to council tax bands; and further believes that the Draft Water Charging Bill provides the perfect opportunity to put this into practice.

This motion has been signed by a total of 59 MPs.
