Bombing In Afghanistan
Alice Mahon
2002-07-03
That this House condemns the latest targeting error committed by United States military forces in Afghanistan which led to the death of over 30 civilians and the injury of a further 100 or more when a wedding party was bombed; regrets the refusal of US officials to apologise for bombing these civilians; notes this is only one incident in a number of such errors by the US; is deeply concerned that this military strategy inevitably leads to the killing of innocent civilians; believes unless there is an immediate halt to this kind of warfare then the coalition against terrorism will breakdown and the Muslim world will become even more alienated from the west; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to urge the US administration to pay greater attention to the prevention of further tragic losses of civilian life.
