21325 2001-02 528 Norman Lamb 2001-12-05 That this House notes with concern the practice, known as erroneous transfers, whereby a consumers' electricity or gas supply is transferred from one provider to another without their having requested it or being informed in any way; welcomes the efforts of OFGEM and Energywatch to establish an Erroneous Transfer Customer Charter, clarifying the rights of consumers in this regard; and urges the Government to support this measure, and to do what it can to encourage electricity and gas companies to change their operating systems, in order that consumers are protected from this at best very dubious practice.
