Social Class And Participation In Higher Education

EDM number 1010 in 2001-02, proposed by Barry Sheerman on 14/03/2002.

That this House welcomes the efforts made by universities to widen participation in higher education as demonstrated by Universities UK's report 'Social Class and participation in Higher Education: From Elitism to Inclusion 2'; and supports the university sector's views that it is vital to fund such work properly to ensure not only the recruitment but also, crucially, the retention of students from non-traditional backgrounds.

This motion has been signed by a total of 103 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
