British Energy

EDM number 1723 in 2001-02, proposed by Tim Yeo on 24/09/2002.

That this House is gravely concerned at the financial crisis engulfing British Energy and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to provide a full explanation of its role at the earliest opportunity including an account of its contingency plan 'Project Blue', its role in the latest negotiations between BNFL and British Energy, and its appreciation of the underlying trading position of British Energy following the introduction of the new electricity grading arrangements; and further calls upon the Government to exempt nuclear generated electricity from the climate change levy.

This motion has been signed by a total of 46 MPs.
