Chewing Gum Nuisance
Tony Banks
2003-03-24
That this House endorses with enthusiasm action to tackle the nuisance created by the disposal of chewing gum; believes that the spitting out of gum in streets and on public transport is disgusting and anti-social; and calls upon the Government to consider all possible ways of eliminating this nuisance, including an outright ban, a sales ban near schools, and the imposition of a duty on manufacturers to render the product swiftly bio-degradable and non-adhesive and to cover the costs of cleaning up by local and transport authorities.
