CANCER RESEARCH UK'S SECOND BIRTHDAY
John Baron
2004-01-22
That this House congratulates Cancer Research UK on its second birthday following the merger between Imperial Cancer Research Fund and the Cancer Research Campaign on 4th February 2002; notes that Cancer Research UK is the world's largest and independent organisation dedicated to cancer research and the largest single funder of cancer research in the UK; further notes that over 30,000 volunteers give their time freely to support the charity and that it has a network of around 1,000 local groups and 650 high street shops; expresses gratitude to the public for providing the support and funding for the charity; and calls on the Government to work with all charities involved in cancer reseach in helping to achieve the charities' aims.
