<title>Alan Hinkes</title>
<proposer id="10208">Don Foster</proposer>
<date>2005-06-07</date>
<text>That this House congratulates Alan Hinkes on successfully climbing Kangchenjunga, the world's third highest mountain at 8,586 metres; notes that he is now the first Briton to climb to the summits of all of the world's 14 highest mountains, ranged across Pakistan and Nepal, and all above 8,000 metres; further notes that he is only the 13th person in the world to climb all 14 mountains successfully; recognises the extraordinary physical and mental courage necessary to undertake such a challenge; and welcomes his invaluable contribution to British mountaineering.</text>
