UK Myeloma Awareness Week 2005
Jessica Morden
2005-06-16
That this House congratulates the International Myeloma Foundation (UK) (IMF (UK)) on its seventh UK Myeloma Awareness Week, being held from 21st to 28th June; recognises the work IMF (UK) undertakes to provide information and support to those living with this debilitating form of bone marrow cancer and to improve standards of treatment and care through education and research; notes that despite significant Government investment in cancer services there are still some variations in the availability of the latest cancer treatments to myeloma patients across the UK; calls on the Government to ensure that the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence reviews the latest myeloma treatments as soon as possible and that patients with myeloma have access to the best possible treatments as soon as they are licensed, when clinically needed, with the support of their consultant haematologist; and calls for local funding to continue to be made available for all patients with myeloma.
