Attack On The Life Of Benazir Bhutto

EDM number 2165 in 2006-07, proposed by Roger Godsiff on 22/10/2007.

That this House views with the utmost gravity the attempt on the life of Benazir Bhutto by extremist elements allegedly connected to Al-Qaeda and the Taliban; commends her bravery in returning to Karachi in such volatile circumstances and the tragic loss of life that resulted; believes that her return presents a potent symbol for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan and that this assassination attempt on one of the country's foremost international politicians was explicitly designed to prevent the restoration of that fragile democracy; and calls on the Government to offer, where possible, all assistance and support to ensure the emergence of a stable government without further loss of life.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
