Democracy 250 In Nova Scotia
Gordon Prentice
2008-03-11
That this House notes that 2008 marks 250 years of parliamentary government in Nova Scotia, the first in Canada; recognises the efforts of Democracy 250 in Nova Scotia in educating the electorate and especially the young on the importance of participation in the electoral process; further notes the contribution of veterans and all cultures to democracy; and congratulates Nova Scotia on its many activities during its year-long celebrations and in particular its efforts to gather and make accessible key documents held in the United Kingdom which encouraged the development and growth of democracy in Canada in 1758.
