UK Government Aids Strategy And Commitment For Children
Mark Durkan
2008-05-22
That this House recalls the Government's 2005 pledge to place children at the heart of its strategy to tackle HIV/AIDS in the developing world; notes that this involved a cornerstone commitment of 10 per cent. of its £1.5 billion HIV/AIDS budget for 2005-08 to children affected by HIV/AIDS; believes that this earmark commitment helped Ministers to galvanise the international response to children affected by HIV/AIDS; and calls for this level of commitment to children to be sustained in the Government's forthcoming HIV/AIDS strategy.
