34519 2007-08 397 Kerry McCarthy 2007-11-27 That this House welcomes the fact that average life expectancy for cystic fibrosis patients has increased to over 30 years and that a child born today with cystic fibrosis can expect to live into their late forties; expresses concern that, despite medical advances, evidence suggests that unacceptable variations in the standard of care, support and treatment still exist; believes that all patients should be entitled to the best care, support and treatment; welcomes the recommendations of the Back the Kid panel of expert clinicians on the future of cystic fibrosis care; and calls on the Government to conduct an audit of cystic fibrosis services in order to plan for high-quality services for all cystic fibrosis patients in the future.
