<title>Teacher Licensing And Accountability</title>
<proposer id="11245">Bob Spink</proposer>
<date>2009-10-19</date>
<text>That this House is concerned by Government plans to require teachers to be re-licensed every five years from September 2010; agrees with the National Union of Teachers that teachers must be accountable, but notes that there is no shortage of accountability criteria at present including Ofsted inspections, performance-related pay and school league tables; and therefore calls on the Government to re-consider its plans on licensing in favour of continuing professional development for teachers and headteachers.</text>
