40419 2009-10 819 Laura Moffatt 2010-02-08 That this House congratulates the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) in its work to improve safety and dignity for patients undergoing surgery; thanks Hilda Mears and her family for the legacy bequeathed to the AfPP to help train theatre staff to improve patient safety and to explore why accidents in theatre happen, thereby reducing mishaps; further notes this legacy will provide funding for education to provide leadership skills and better communication to try and make the experience of going to theatre as good as it can be; and hopes the President, Diane Gilmour, continues this excellent work to improve the patient experience.
