Hywel Williams
2018-06-20
That this House recognises that 20 June 2018 is World Refugee Day; extends a welcome to all refugees who have settled in Gwynedd; recognises the incredible work of individuals in Gwynedd in welcoming refugees to our country; supports the contribution of Gwynedd Council in its work to support refugees, through the work of the Syrian Refugee Resettlement Programme; celebrates the work of Pobl I Bobl and CEFN in providing aid to those seeking safety on these shores and beyond; notes the success of refugees resettlement programs in Wales which as of 2017 had found homes for 722 people; further notes the importance of taking in refugees as part of our role on the international stage; and calls on the Government and Welsh Government to fulfil international obligations to resettle more refugees in the UK and to provide adequate support for councils and community organisations to support refugees in Wales and across the UK.
