Skillshare Africa
EDM number 1049 in 1989-90, proposed by Richard Caborn on 23/05/1990.
That this House welcomes the official launch this week of Skillshare Africa, which now replaces the long-term overseas volunteer programme within International Voluntary Service, who send skilled and experienced people to work with the local population in Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique and Swaziland; and hopes that in the near future this work will be expanded beyond the 60 to 880 volunteers who are working as civil and water engineers, mechanics, welders, carpenters, health service personnel, community development workers, English language teachers and business advisors/management project workers, making a positive contribution to the reconstruction of the Southern African states.
