Cuts In United Kingdom Arms Expenditure

EDM number 1056 in 1989-90, proposed by Ieuan Wyn Jones on 24/05/1990.

That this House notes the easing of tensions between the countries of NATO and the Warsaw Pact, culminating in the forthcoming Bush-Gorbachev summit; further notes the moves towards substantial reductions in arms expenditure in mainland Europe; believes that the United Kingdom should play a positive part in the further promotion of detente; condemns the recent statements by Government Ministers on arms control as being anachronistic; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to reduce the level of gross domestic product per head spent on arms to a similar level as that of West Germany.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
