Nurse Training In Wales

That this House notes with grave concern that Project 2000 for nurse training may not be fully implemented in Wales in 1991 as originally planned; pays tribute to all those who worked so hard to meet that deadline; notes that Parliamentary replies to the honourable Member for Cardiff South and Penarth show that cost-cutting is the only explanation for a phased implementation which threatens morale, recruitment and retention of nursing staff; and calls on the Secretary of State for Wales to reinstate the 1991 deadline without delay, in the long-term interests of patient care.
