Swindon Town Football Club

EDM number 1098 in 1989-90, proposed by Tony Banks on 12/06/1990.

That this House expresses its great sympathy with the loyal supporters of Swindon Town F.C. at the club's forced relegation to the Third Division; notes that the alleged breaches of the Football League's rules are not the responsibility of the club's supporters; believes that any punishment handed out by the League should be imposed personally on those found guilty rather than upon innocent supporters; and considers that until football supporters achieve a wide measure of control over the affairs of their own clubs, the great sport of football will continue to suffer from so many dullards, self-seekers and cheapjacks.
