Policy On Aid Projects In The Punjab And Kashmir

EDM number 1132 in 1989-90, proposed by Jeff Rooker on 19/06/1990.

That this House is concerned to learn of the confirmation by the Overseas Development Administration of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office that none of the ú1 billion programme of United Kingdom aid to India in the past 10 years funded any projects in the Punjab or Kashmir; believes that United Kingdom taxpayers, especially those with families in these two parts of Northern India, are entitled to an explanation; and calls upon the Government of India, whose agreement is required for aid projects, to fully explain its policy which must amount to either not bringing forward projects itself for consideration or of blocking proposals for United Kingdom aid projects in the Punjab and Kashmir.

This motion has been ammended, see 738A1 and 738A2.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
