Burslem Crown Post Office

EDM number 1165 in 1989-90, proposed by Joan Walley on 21/06/1990.

That this House views with the gravest concern rumours that Burslem Crown Post Office in Stoke on Trent is to be downgraded; recognises the enormous damage that this would do to the joint plan by Stoke on Trent City Council and the Civic Trust, supported by local residents, industry and commerce, to revitalise Burslem town centre; is concerned that any change in status would undermine the job security of those currently employed in the Post Office; and urges the Secretary of State at the Department of Trade and Industry to seek an immediate assurance from the Post Office that account will be taken of the Civic Trust and City Council initiative in Burslem and that there will be no downgrading of Burslem Crown Post Office.

This motion has been signed by a total of 16 MPs.
