Environmental Protection For Cambridge

EDM number 1251 in 1989-90, proposed by Ronnie Fearn on 09/07/1990.

That this House notes with concern the environmentally damaging aspects of Cambridgeshire County Council's traffic strategy for Cambridge; congratulates the Liberal Democrats on Cambridge City Council for their successful motion opposing plans to build an underground car park at Butt Green, a new river crossing and road across Ditton Meadow and Coldhams Common, and bus lanes that would involve the loss of trees on Milton Road; supports local groups such as Save Our Commons and Meadows, the Milton Road Action Group, the Midsummer Common Preservation Society and the Cambridge Preservation Society in their campaigns to preserve the quality of their environment; and urges Cambridgeshire County Council, British Rail and other relevant authorities to adopt the environmentally positive solutions to Cambridge's traffic problems proposed by local branches of transportation and environmental groups such as the Railway Development Society, Transport 2000 and Friends of the Earth.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
