The Prime Minister's Pankhurst Lecture

EDM number 1316 in 1989-90, proposed by Emma Nicholson on 19/07/1990.

That this House notes that there are more women in work than ever before, that a higher proportion of women are active in the labour force than in any other European Community country except Denmark; congratulates Her Majesty's Government on ending taxation on the value of work place nurseries and playgroups thus destroying a disincentive for woman to return to work; and welcomes the initiative of the Prime Minister in raising the key issue of maintenance for single mothers on 18th June, which will bring to an end immense grief and hardship for many women and children in a wide-ranging, benchmark speech on women today to the 300 Group.
