Control Of Speedboats And Jet-Skis

EDM number 1317 in 1989-90, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 19/07/1990.

That this House expresses concern that the growth in the number of fast pleasure craft, including jet-skis, in the vicinity of popular beaches causes a very real danger to the safety of swimmers and others, particularly children, who may be enjoying themselves in the sea; notes that there is often no identification which would enable authorities to pursue those who act in a dangerous manner nor tight enough controls regarding age, intoxication and responsibility of those in charge of potentially lethal vessels; and calls upon the Government to review primary legislation and the use of by-laws to improve safety standards in such matters.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
