West Midlands Regional Health Authority

EDM number 1323 in 1989-90, proposed by Jeff Rooker on 23/07/1990.

That this House hears with astonishment of the intention of the West Midlands Regional Health Authority to submit its hospital reorganisation plans for the City of Birmingham to the Secretary of State for Health with only one amendment in spite of the avalanche of objections to these proposals from all sections of the Birmingham public; condemns the consultation exercise for these proposals as an utter farce; believes that if the regional health authority agrees to submit the proposals to the Minister at its last meeting, one day before it is disbanded, this will be in keeping with its usual conduct of affairs; furthermore regards the intention not to list objections to its proposals by such persons and organisations as Members of Parliament for the City, the Birmingham City Councillors, health service consultation bodies, the Birmingham Evening Mail together with thousands of its readers and members of the public as being contemptible; and therefore calls upon the Secretary of State to reject those proposals out of hand.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
