The Housing Crisis and Labour's Record in Liverpool

EDM number 133 in 1989-90, proposed by Ronnie Fearn on 01/12/1989.

That this House notes that despite the rhetoric of the Labour Party about its house building record in Liverpool the latest figures from the City Council show that, without taking into account properties bought by tenants exercising their right to buy, there are now 6,257 fewer dwellings than in 1983; calls upon Her Majesty's official Opposition to make clear whether this negative house building performance of which they have been so proud will be repeated nationwide in the unlikely event of them ever coming to power; and calls upon the Government to help tackle the housing crisis by reducing interest rates and by removing restrictions on local government expenditure.

This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
