Sale Of Powergen
EDM number 1341 in 1989-90, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 24/07/1990.
That this House deplores the proposed sale of PowerGen to the Hanson Group as yet further evidence of the deterioration of the Government's electricity supply industry privatisation scheme into chaos and confusion, being the seventh major change in the proposed structure, following on from: (a) the six months delay in the flotation of the distribution companies from May to November 1990, (b) the removal of Magnox Nuclear power stations, and (c) AGR and PWR stations from the privatisation, (d) the removal of the obligation to supply from the new distribution companies, (e) the reduction of the flue gas desulphurisation commitment from 12,000mw to 8,000mw and (f) the replacement of the double pool system by the single integrated pool.
