Discrimination Against Nurses

EDM number 1343 in 1989-90, proposed by Alice Mahon on 24/07/1990.

That this House is deeply concerned that nurses on traditional type training courses are being discriminated against under the poll tax and could end up ú500 a year worse off than their counterparts on Project 2000 courses; believes this discrimination could seriously affect recruitment and will only add to the stress already experienced by many nurses caused by low staffing levels and low pay; and calls upon the Government to end immediately this grossly unfair discrimination.
