Sainsburys' Planning Application for a Superstore at West Hove Golf Course

EDM number 1363 in 1989-90, proposed by Simon Hughes on 26/07/1990.

That this House calls on Sainsbury's the grocers to reconsider its decision to build a 79,718 square foot superstore in the Benfield Valley, Hove's last green valley; calls on the honourable Member for Hove to reconsider his attitude to this major development in his constituency, take into account the substantial public opposition to the proposal including that expressed by the Hove Civic Society, the well-supported Leave Our Valley Evergreen (LOVE) and Benfield and Hangleton Valley Emergency (BEHAVE) campaign groups and the Shoreham Port Authority, as well as many local Conservatives, and put the concerns of his constituents and of the environment first, by now stating his opposition to the application; and requests the Secretary of State for the Environment to call in the planning application for determination.

This motion has been signed by a total of 2 MPs.
