Bradford Voluntary Sector (No.2)

That this House notes Bradford Conservative councillors have reversed an earlier decision not to fund voluntary organisations listed in Early Day Motion 139; expresses deep concern, however, that Bradford Resource Centre has been refused funding and that other voluntary organisations, such as Bradford Community Arts Association, the Afro Caribbean Women's Association, the Community Health Project and Bradford Council for Voluntary Service have been refused adequate funding; expresses consternation that, when important Bradford-based voluntary organisations are being refused funding or only given limited funding, Councillor Eric Pickles, the Leader of Bradford City Council, met an officer of the Birmingham-based Groundwork Foundation to discuss the council's request to the foundation to establish a trust in Bradford; and notes core-funding from the Department of the Environment to the Groundwork Foundation for 1989-90 amounts to ú1,743,000 and that individual trusts receive project grants from the Countryside Commission.
