Water Fluoridation

EDM number 178 in 1989-90, proposed by Jimmy Wray on 11/12/1989.

That this House takes careful note that in the United States the Environmental Protection Agency has been asked by its employees' national federation to drop support for water fluoridation; is aware that such action has been demanded because an internationally recognised authority on the biological effects of fluoride unveiled, late in 1988, an extensive study concluding that fluoridation does not reduce tooth decay, after examining 39,207 children; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to take all the necessary steps to stop the fluoridation of water and, instead, properly finance research on alternative methods to prevent tooth decay.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
