Re-Chem And The Media
EDM number 216 in 1989-90, proposed by Richard Livsey on 14/12/1989.
That this House notes the justifiable interests in Wales of the inquiry by the Select Committee on Welsh Affairs into toxic wastes and especially evidence concerning the Re-Chem incineration plant at Pontypool, but is concerned media coverage should not be unduly influenced by the number of writs issued by the company against newspapers, broadcasting companies, organisations or individuals; and notes the apparent intimidation felt by local people in the area surrounding the plant who fear that their right to freedom of speech will be impeded by threats of legal action.
This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs.
