Famine In Ethiopia

That this House dismayed by re-emerging famine in Ethiopia and Eritrea, notes that for 250 years on famine has occurred in Ethiopia every 11 years on average, notes the contribution of drought, deforestation and desparate poverty to the situation, notes the culpability of the Mengistu Government in its disastrous agricultural policies, its occupation of Eritrea and its relationship to its own nationalities, nevertheless recognises that the programme of the avowedly pro-Albanian Tigray People's Liberation front would be even worse, and therefore calls for a cease-fire, a government of national unity in Ethiopia, and a United Nations initiative to resolve outstanding problems.
