Greater Manchester Police Force

That this House views with alarm the recently published crime statistics, showing the Greater Manchester Police detection rate at 29. 3 per cent. while the average for England and Wales is 39.9 per cent.; calls immediately for a substantial increase of officers to combat the 95 per cent. increase in crime over a period; and deplores the fact that Greater Manchester Police Force has been increased by less than 5 per cent.
